I Told Myself I'd Never Do This In A Journal Entry Again
…but the rage caused by
Lady GaGa fans is way too much so, here it goes. Another rant on this shallow pop idol. This time it shall be more specific. Her music videos suck!
First off, her debut as Lady Gaga started with Just Dance and the video is as about mindblowing as the music is
Frankly that was the high school party I never went to nor ever had the desire to attend. What I find amazing is that it starts off after the attendees of that party are strung out and sleeping the alcohol off. I'm pretty sure if that were real those strung out losers would have not reacted kindly to having loud music blasted at them while strung out. The video doesn't do much and just throws random visual cues at you. Even less appealing is Stefani's antics from the annoying covering of just one eye, to holding her microphone like she's about to deep throat it, to the inflatable orca humping she's just a mess in this video and it's frankly unattractive and unamusing. That being said that's still one of her better videos.
Eh Eh happens to have her best video. Sure it's about as inane as the song it goes with but frankly it's cute and fits the subject matter. the over indulgence in Italian regalia is a bit distracting, but pretty much anything would be with this snooze fest.
Beautiful, Dirty, Rich Where do I begin with this one All I feel I have to say is that eating money, writhing around on a pile of it and damaging the artwork in one's daddy's mansion, does NOT make you look intelligent and artistic.

Poker Face
Before I comment on the video, one thing I noticed when I first watched it and I didn't when being inundated with it at school was that the stuttering chorus in the video sounds much more like fuck-fuck-fuck…..fuck her face. Just a fun tidbit to throw out there.
Oh god what a mess of awful. Group orgies, inverted airhumping, and strip poker. How obvious does it get. There's about as much substance to the video as there is to the song. Technically the lighting is nice but that's the only good thing I can really say. The bits where she's dancing up close to the camera near the end are just painful and embaressing to watch as she goes from playing peekaboo with the viewer to doing the running man. At one point in her blue unitard she does some move that looks like "head, shoulders, knees, and toes" with the last tow bodyparts replaced by stomach and crotch. Last thing is the guy she apparently seduces near the end (but doesn't show up anywhere else in the jumbled mass orgies/strip poker scenes) doesn't seem interested in her at all. Their interactions are stilted and uncomfortable, and frankly he just looks bored. To top all of that nonsense off she appears like a demon out of….. her backyard pool??? Jesus Christ that video is dumb
LoveGame
This video is significant in several ways. First it introduces the overused "discostick" prop (insert penis joke here) It's a rather unimaginative tool and rather than bringing me phallic images, it just seems to be a glorified dildo (with a rock on the end) Next is the stupid Haus of Gaga which also appears in Bad Romance (so she has a fashion line now, what is it doing in her video?) We also see her first use of product placement in a bottle of Campari alcohol. On another topic I dont think NYC allows one to let dogs freely roam (or as the ones in the backround do, sit around unnoticed) in their subway.
Much of the setting takes place in a filthy underground setting of the subways with a bunch of guys in leather. Basically we see Stefani engaged in a menage a trois with two guys with the words "love" and "fame" shaved on their scalp to coincide with the lyrics of the song (oh how clever) You see a quick change with the help of aformentioned biker dudes. They start some gross foreplay dance on a car which thankfully is broken up by the cops. Unfortunately a male cop gets seduced by Stefani in a ticket booth and then, with a different camera angle male cop becomes female (and then bounces back and forth O_o) The video ends with everyone doing the hip hop version of line dancing and grabbing their crotches (that's oh so subtle) As an added bonus you get to see Stefani displayf her vagina to "fame." Her father must be so proud of his little girl.
Paparazzi
Oh look she's trying to incorporate a story in her work. Basically this whole mini movie is drowning in it's own narcissism (Oh look, she's on a $1000 bill) Basically she gets into a post coital fight with her annoying Swedish boyfriend because he's showing her off for the Paparazzi. She gets mad and hits him over the head with a conveniently placed bottle and in retaliation he pushes her off the balcony. Now one would think that in that situation with a ton of reporters he would get his ass hauled to jail and Stefani would host a pity party with the paps on her side. You'd be wrong, because we're watching a Gaga video where sense doesn't exist. The paps turn their camera's on her and newspapers report on about how much they hate her. Her boyfriend gets off scott free. It's worth pointing out that this video glorifies dating violence to an unholy level. After the fall Stefani is shown as beautiful and tragic with a string of pearls in her mouth. There's no image of the brutality of the action against her and it's presented in an alarmingly beautiful light. It doesn't end there. Throughout the rest of the video are shots of dead but oh so beautiful models, some of which look like murder victems (possibly from nnoying swedish guy) These too are presented in a disturbing alluring light and one wonders whether Stefani's claim that she is against sexism in her industry is true when her video shows beautiful female victims.
You next see her in a wheel chair and then on crutches in an absurd metallic bodysuit hobbling along, beautiful and broken (again with the sexism) Basically the middle is filled with filler shots of her playing with her tongue, having a foursome with triplets (what would Freud have to say about that) and dancing around in stupid costumes) It ends with her poisoning her ex incognito and then telling the police about it in a 911 call. The cops actually follow coventional logic and arrest her ass, but the paps and the news men glorify her. I'm not sure what this video was trying to say, but any statement it made got blurred and covered up by the cheap gloss and schlock of the visuals.
Bad Romance
MOAR PRODUCT PLACEMENT. Oh you didn't notice it. There were three definate instances. First were the bottles of russian vodka, then were those earbuds the creepy doe eyed thing was wearing (yes those are for sale) and then there were the computers just sitting there (what was the point of that?) Frankly this video is a huge jumble of awful. From the rip off thriller moves to the "oh look a sex market." The story line is this. There's a bathhouse Stefani apparently owns (despite the fact she appears as a degenerate monster created by someone else for a sex market) She is born out of coffinlike……bathtubs? (idk just go with it) And looks like a minimalist albino version of the LOTR witch king (only without the awesome) She then becomes a doe eyed creature that is fed something by her handlers and she then becomes a skeletal thing in a poorly lit…… other part of the bathroom. She regains the witch king garb only it's black now and doesn't cover her whole face (but that's what cheap sunglasses are for) She then……dear lord I'm just going to skip to the chase she gets bought and then fries her buyer before getting dirty (wow she actually didn't have sex, and here she she had me convinced she was a nymphomaniac) and then rolls on the floor spewing french. How anyone can compare this to Kubrick is just another sing of how cheap "genius" is becoming

Once again…….Product placement. From Mayonaisse to cell phones, to dating websites to Stefani's own fucking music this video is chock full of it.
So this video starts out with Stefani being thrown in a "prison for bitches" (facepalm) for poisoning her douchey ex swedish boyfriend. She shows off her vagina after getting stripped by the guards (to prove she doesn't have a penis -__-) and it all goes down hill from there. Besides a snippet of Paper Gangsta you hear no music until much later, it's just ads for products and Stefani trying to be iconic by wearing diet soda cans and cig glasses. When the music starts she brings back those stupid "monster" hands and adds in some "ima gonna punch you" in with it. She then gets bailed out (no that would NOT happen in the real world but this is Gaga's fantasy playground) and she and Beyonce have a very scripted and awkward conversation. They then enter a diner where, B's ex is. He gets up and for no reason starts bitching out other customers (his actions don't have to be explained he'll die anyway) Meanwhile Stefani sneaks in the kitchen and……. makes a sammich (and is also able to display what brand of mayo she prefers) She and Beyonce then poison everyone and start dancing around the carnage in Ameican flag regalia with a posse of acid washed dancers who come out of nowhere (sense, you have none in here) They then escape and go through more dialogue trying (and failing) to evoke the greatness of the movie Thelma and Louise. It's just a horrible pile of awful.
In conclusion Stefani's videos range from average to awful with the second end mentioned bearing more of the weight. I still don't see any of the supposed genius people claim. Any fan's who feelings are hurt should blame themselves and their constant fapping for providing this rant journal.

I've honestly never seen The Troub this quiet, even on a school night. Additionally, I find out that openers Skarlet Blue simply didn't show up, resulting in Pioneers Of Flight – aka DFB's rhythm section Stew Riddle and Matt Wedmaier – filling the spot.
Barely 48 hours after landing back in Brisbane, sleep-deprived Drawn From Bees deliver a solid homecoming set, opening with latest single Run Away. Last year's Waiting For The End and Bus Now precede the bass-driven Always The Last off forthcoming LP Fear Not The Footsteps Of The Departed. Cables In The Sky and English Line (the headliners' Phil joining on guitar) again showcase classic DFB harmonies, then it's time for the new songs The Eastwood Fox and Stand Against The Storm, calling card Long Tooth Setting Sun and traditional closer Amelia.
Back from their US tour, Grand Atlantic start with the familiar trio of Coast Is Clear, Tripwires and Used To Be The Sensitive Type prior to treating us to a shoegaze-leaning new track and The Replacements' Left Of The Dial. These Are The Times, another newie Hit & Run and She's A Dreamer restore the trad-rock feel before the gents tear up Beyonce's Single Ladies (with DFB's Dan and Matt guesting) and aptly bow out with the mod-stomp of Just Another Ghost Town.
